I have been remitting cash to a family member who lives apart from me. I would like to make them a dependent, but what should I do?

Cash that is delivered as aid is not approved as a remittance. In addition, the amount remitted must meet the following three requirements.
(1) An amount that exceeds the dependent's annual income and is not significantly less than the standard cost of living (60,000 yen/person or 85,000 yen/two people) must be remitted at the minimum each month (hand delivery is not acceptable).
(2) The annual income of the dependent including the amount remitted from the insured person must not be more than the insured person's (employee's) annual income minus the total amount remitted annually.
(3) The remittance must be necessary for the dependent to maintain his/her livelihood, and the amount of income after the remittance must be sufficient for the insured person and other dependents to make a living.
However, a certificate of remittance is not required if the insured person is living apart from his/her family for work or if the remittance is for a child who is a student. Submission of a “Written Pledge Regarding Remittance” is also required.
